Advances in underwater technology are transforming how we study the ocean. Robots now listen to reef soundscapes to see whether a reef is healthy or degraded, ocean gliders collect data inside hurricanes to help us understand intensification, and researchers use recordings of healthy reefs to encourage coral settlement at damaged sites. Our view of the ocean has never been more detailed.
