Individual Workshops

These workshops are all about the one-on-one personalized approach. Students get to learn at their pace. Workshops are made up of a combination of short presentations and lots of hands-on time practicing what you just learned. Students will also learn how to apply storytelling to their images and the workshop will culminate with a photo editing walkthrough where Dan will talk you through the most used features of post processing images. Underwater workshops are available in snorkel and SCUBA options. Must be open-water certified for SCUBA option.


What you’ll need

  • Camera - DSLR or Mirrorless camera that can shoot in full manual mode is preferred but workshops can be tailored to those using point and shoots or smartphones

  • Laptop computer for post-processing images


What you’ll learn

Basic Camera Settings

Students will leave the workshop with a strong understanding of the basic camera settings and feel confident shooting in full manual mode

Composition

Students will learn how to think critically of what they choose as the photographer to keep in or remove in the frame when taking a photo. They’ll also learn the various compositional rules to apply to their images in relation to where they place their subject and why this leads to more impactful images

Lighting

Students will learn the basics of the different types of lighting you can achieve using natural light. Those participating in underwater photography and have their own strobes will be able to learn strobe photography for underwater photography.

Storytelling

Students will learn how to combine camera settings, composition, and lighting to make their images tell a story. They’ll also learn how to tell stories through a series of images.

Image Editing

Students will receive one-on-one editing tutorials where they’ll learn all the most-used tools to make their images pop and tell the story you want.
